FAQ Alzheimer’s Paid Clinical Trials
What is a clinical trial for Alzheimer’s disease?
A clinical trial is a research study that evaluates how investigational drugs or therapies may affect cognitive impairment, memory loss, and dementia symptoms. Some studies assess biomarkers like amyloid plaques or proteins using imaging or laboratory tests such as PET scans (positron emission tomography).
The details of the study will be discussed with you during the informed consent phase of your enrollment process.
Who can participate?
Individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment, or those at risk due to age or family history may qualify. A caregiver is typically required to assist with communication and study visits.
How long are study visits?
Visits typically last 1–3 hours, depending on the study. Some may include screening, dose administration, or imaging sessions.
Are Alzheimer’s trials safe?
Yes. Each phase of the clinical trial is carefully reviewed to ensure participant safety before moving to larger groups. All studies follow Food and Drug Administration (FDA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and independent ethics board regulations. Participants are monitored throughout for any side effects or behavioral changes.
What medications are being studied?
It depends on the study. Some Alzheimer’s research evaluates investigational drug therapy that targets amyloid plaques to assess efficacy and safety. Examples may include compounds such as lecanemab or aducanumab, depending on the sponsor’s protocol and study phase.
How are results measured?
Researchers collect data through memory tests, cognitive evaluations, and blood samples to track biomarker and protein changes. Some trials also use PET scans to observe brain activity.
Do participants get compensated?
Yes. Participants receive compensation for time and travel, with details explained during screening and informed consent.
Learn more about Informed Consent in our guide.
Is participation voluntary?
Absolutely. You may withdraw at any time. Every study is reviewed by an independent ethics board to protect participant health, safety, and privacy.
